This year, an unexpected event upset our lives -- my husband got a DUI, and I was notified with only a brief and unclear emergency phone call in the middle of the night. With no experience in this situation (or any legal matters), and with my husband unreachable, the sheriff's contacts not friendly or helpful, and bail bondsmen intruding by phone and in-person, I was confused and frantic. I didn't know where to begin, or what information to believe. I reached out to James who I had met socially through a mutual friend, and in the early morning hours, he called me back. Without contract or fees, he went out of his way to guide me through those first few days, the steps needed to get my husband released, and all the various decisions and options. He was reassuring, professional, and also a shoulder to lean on emotionally. He was quick to respond continually throughout the day(s) and even into the night, sacrificing his personal/family plans to make sure I had the advice I needed, and could navigate the obstacles and legal processes we were up against.

After the initial chaos of coming to grips with our situation and starting to untangle the legal system, getting my husband released, and our available options and ramifications, my husband and I met with James to discuss our case and decided to officially hire him as our attorney. From that point on, James continued to be responsible, professional, and expertly took care of all reviews, paperwork, processes, and meetings. If anything, after the initial drama I had felt, the rest of the process seemed (thankfully) anticlimactic. We sat back and James handled everything. Was met by the receptionist who was totally RUDE and angry. I should have ran then, but I hired him anyway. I filed a TRO against another person. He told me NOT to say anything. I sat there while the other party spewed there lies. Did he object to anything? NO. He sat there the whole proceedings and DIDN'T SAY A WORD. As we were walking out and leaving after we lost, he said and I quote "this is why I don't like family law" REALLY?!?! Then why did you take my case? I wish I would have known that before I gave him $5K. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time.
