I can't say enough great things about James Silverstein. He is both experienced and an expert in Criminal Law, and he came highly recommended by an attorney friend of mine. I retained him on a traffic case, and he made himself available before our 1st meeting to answer all of my questions over the phone (on a weekend). Then at our meeting, he listened carefully to everything I had to say about the case (I was pretty emotional), then he explained thoroughly about his experience with similar cases in the past, and was very honest about the possibilities of what COULD happen in situations like these. At the same time, he reassured me that he will do whatever it takes to fight the case. And HE DID! He got me out of a case, and I owe him my life! This year, an unexpected event upset our lives -- my husband got a DUI, and I was notified with only a brief and unclear emergency phone call in the middle of the night. With no experience in this situation (or any legal matters), and with my husband unreachable, the sheriff's contacts not friendly or helpful, and bail bondsmen intruding by phone and in-person, I was confused and frantic. I didn't know where to begin, or what information to believe. I reached out to James who I had met socially through a mutual friend, and in the early morning hours, he called me back. Without contract or fees, he went out of his way to guide me through those first few days, the steps needed to get my husband released, and all the various decisions and options. He was reassuring, professional, and also a shoulder to lean on emotionally. He was quick to respond continually throughout the day(s) and even into the night, sacrificing his personal/family plans to make sure I had the advice I needed, and could navigate the obstacles and legal processes we were up against.

After the initial chaos of coming to grips with our situation and starting to untangle the legal system, getting my husband released, and our available options and ramifications, my husband and I met with James to discuss our case and decided to officially hire him as our attorney. From that point on, James continued to be responsible, professional, and expertly took care of all reviews, paperwork, processes, and meetings. If anything, after the initial drama I had felt, the rest of the process seemed (thankfully) anticlimactic. We sat back and James handled everything. I would of course recommend him as an attorney based on his handling of our case, but more than that, I will be forever grateful for the initial support in the first few days that he provided without guarantee of contract, but rather because he cared enough to offer his knowledge and guidance when someone reached out to him in need. James is a solid guy with much experience, expertise, and connections, and I am so thankful I had someone I felt I could trust when it mattered most.

The fact that James Silverstein is still in practice is depressing and so very wrong. He is a narcissist, a prick and a law and order Republican who hates his clients and no matter the evidence thinks they are guilty. He will not only not defend you he will turn on you and sell you out if that is what he thinks may advance his ambitions. He does not care if you are maliciously prosecuted and will steal you money and leave you high and dry.All these reviews are fake. Unless Silverstein grew a conscience. and regrets the unbelievable fraudulent and cruel practices he should be widely known for. In short, he is a thief of the worst kind. It is my civic duty to warn against hiring such an unscrupulous bastard. He is truly an evil man who deserves prison not a law practice.

Best Criminal Defense Attorney in Los Angeles County James Silverstein is - hands down- the best Criminal Defense attorney and I cant begin to thank him for all that he did for me . I was a Suspect in a Domestic Violence case , ( Never arrested) upon learning their was an open Investigation I immediately retained Mr. Silverstein to conduct a pre-filling Investigation and contacting the Investigating Detective on my behalf , Mr. Silverstein was able to convince the Detective by presenting evidence beyond a reasonable doubt I could not have done what was alleged . After further conversation with Detective a decision was made by the Detective to recommend (No charges be filed) , the District Attorney with-in 72 hours receipt of the Completed Investigation Rejected Criminal charges filed against me . I recommend Mr Silverstein to any one facing Criminal Charges or have reason to believe they are a Suspect in a Criminal Investigation to contact Mr Silverstein , Im a Retired Policeman and know in the Criminal Justice system you are Guilty until proven innocent ! You can not put a price tag on your Freedom , retain the best Criminal Defense Attorney James Silverstein .

Was met by the receptionist who was totally RUDE and angry. I should have ran then, but I hired him anyway. I filed a TRO against another person. He told me NOT to say anything. I sat there while the other party spewed there lies. Did he object to anything? NO. He sat there the whole proceedings and DIDN'T SAY A WORD. As we were walking out and leaving after we lost, he said and I quote "this is why I don't like family law" REALLY?!?! Then why did you take my case? I wish I would have known that before I gave him $5K. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time.

I am very happy to have been referred to Attorney Silverstein. He even took the time to call me back over the holidays. He helped me get my case down to a misdemeanor and was very thorough and attentive to my concerns. I am very satisfied with the outcome and would highly recommend Attorney Silverstein.
